Lucky Winner Chooses One...

Back to Basics Blender Express

Or...

12oz Strawberry Street Quartz Double Old Fashioned Glasses (Set of Six)

Or...

Cuisinox 24oz Cocktail Shaker

The bar stool's built for dreamers.

That's the line from a Widespread Panic song I've been singing since I realized the folks at All Bar Stools had somehow read my mind. I was sitting on the comfy swivel kind in my dear friend's kitchen last weekend when I was thinking: I need more impromptu parties in my life.

This occurred to me because I was helping her prepare for one.  I was sort of crashing it since my overnight visit had become three days because of snow. See, she and her husband live in North Carolina — in a town that doesn't see enough icy weather to quickly clear the roads. But their house is on a lake that wasn't frozen — so they broke out all the bar supplies and invited a bunch of neighbors over by boat.

It was the best snow day ever.

"Wouldn't it be great to meet fun new people like this all the time," this bar stool dreamer was thinking. "I'd love to throw a random weekday soirĂ©e and invite all my online friends."

Then the next day I got an email. The apparent mind readers at Allbarstools.com asked me to host a giveaway! They must know TheWordWire readers are pretty special, because they're offering one of you a free gift.

It's like a virtual impromptu party! Only there's a real door prize for one lucky winner to choose. It's only fitting for the options to be something you can use at your next gathering.  So pull up a bar stool and keep reading for details on how to win...

The Details:

  • To enter, just leave a comment on this post. Tell us all what you'd choose if you won!
  • It's a "party" so make it social — Comment on TheWordWire Facebook fan page or re-tweet this post to get an extra entry!

  • Comments and Tweets made before 11:59 PST on Sunday, February 7 will be counted. Random winner will be selected on Monday, February 8.
  • Winner will be contacted by email, so be sure to leave a valid address on the comment form... Don't worry — this will not be published.

That's all there is to it! Sincere thanks to you for reading TheWordWire and to Allbarstools.com for reading my mind. I hope to get more surprises like this in my inbox. And I look forward to sending a "YOU WON" message to yours!

UPDATE - Monday, February 8, 2010

So, I read this post and while the giveaway is AWESOME--even more awesome that allbarstools.com contacted you--all I kept thinking about was: "Gosh! She was in North Carolina! I'm so jealous!"
Spent 8 years in Raleigh...have I told you that?
But I digress...I would LOVE the Strawberry Street Quartz Old Fashioned Glasses because I think that sparkling (matching) glasses make any table look better. As for what I'd use them for?? Well, that green concoction in the picture looks good. I'm actually a huge fan of mimosas, though... so I'd probably use them for mimosas. Yes. Yes I would!
I hope you're doing well and I'm excited that I was comment numero uno on this giveaway! I'm retweeting it for ya!

Oh, no question... I'd have to opt for the set of cocktail glasses.

    (a) They look great--- chic yet with timeless elegance.

    (b) They fairly beg you to enjoy your favorite adult beverage. I'd even drive to Albertson's for limes.

    (c) I need some good-looking barware to sustain my reputation for style and class.

Hopping up-and-down with my hand up...

(I typed this out myself, so I hope neatness counts.)

Well...while the blender is splender I don't do margaritas...while the glass says 'class'...I'll pass...but the cocktail shaker is the perfect 'chocolate cake' maker!

LOL! I wanted to hear more about the compfy swivel barstools!

I would probably choose the blender. I've been daydreaming about one of those single-serving blenders for months now. I imagine it would be easier than making smoothies for one in a traditional blender -- I always end up with waaay more smoothie than I actually need using my big old blender.
