I have a group of beloved girlfriends who steal away for a little trip together every year. It started the year we turned thirty — the year we learned about the travesty of getting "Ma'amed". On that first trip, we engaged in an imaginary dance-off against the younger girls. This year's idea is to take a long, long walk for them.

It would be for all women, really — We'd like to walk a Susan G. Komen 3-Day to raise funds towards finding a breast cancer cure.

Three days. Sixty miles. A journey out of the everyday.

"Say what?" That's my feet talking. They're telling the rest of me to be realistic about how much no-kidding-around work it would take for someone in my shape to take a challenge like that on.

"But look at all the other people with that kind of moxie!" my head argues back. Since the 3-Day Walk's inception in 2003, participants have raised more than $400 million for the cause.

There are other reasons it may make more sense for my group of friends to tackle this another year. But I wanted to share the info regardless of our plans. It's a good highlight for Wanderlust Sunday — Fifteen exciting US cities will host 3-Day For the Cure walks throughout the year.

"Everyone Deserves a Lifetime" is the rallying cry for this event. Even if my own group isn't able to travel to walk a 3-Day this year, I whole heartedly applaud those who do.

Good for you! That's incredibly inspirational.

I've been meaning to do the Alzheimer's Walk here in Seattle. Maybe this is the year I get off my ass...

I've looked into doing this. I wish the fund raising amount was lower. I live in a small town but had considered travelling to Chiago to do this walk with a friend. Honestly though, I don't think we could raise the required amount. We settled on the local Relay For Life walk instead.
