Best Laugh of 2009: Smarter Than He Looks
Today Gwen Bell asks her Best of 2009 Blog Challenge participants what made them laugh hardest this year. I love this topic, because to me, laughter is music. Sometimes when I'm down, I close my eyes and imagine my favorite people's laughs. Mom, Dad, Rufus, friends — each unique and contagious. They all find different things funny, but the mood-lifting effect is the same. There's something delightfully intimate about sharing a genuine laugh.
Rufus and I shared a laugh this year that I'll point out as the best. Humor is subjective, but this little story made us snort and giggle for days...

| As soon as we passed the sign, we knew we had to go back. He tried on silly faces in front of it, while I bobbed up and down trying to line up the perfect camera angle. It took some time and skill to find exactly the right perspective, but we think the final result is so worth the effort. I submit that one has to be pretty sharp to stage this on the fly — this man is brilliant. Waaaaaaaay smarter than he looks. ![]() |

Road trips rule the funny code. Do you think it is because we let our guard down, or are required to be fully present to whatever shows up?

I think you hit the nail on the head ... you do have to be fully present to whatever shows up. I know when we strike out on some road adventure, we become curious children again. And children laugh a lot.
Thanks for your comment. Happy travels and many laughs in 2010!
