Who Do You Trust?

By now, you surely have heard: Walter Cronkite, the legendary newsman dubbed "The Most Trusted Man in America" died last Friday. He was 92.
The Most Trusted Man in America. That's quite a legacy. In a world where anyone who wants to be is self-published, and social media makes everyone a pundit, we have more news and information at our disposal than ever before. The hard part is separating out the white noise, and deciding who's worthy of our trust. I've indulged my media critic in several TheWordWire posts, but the passing of an old-guard legend deserves a different tone. Here's the short list of who has my ear. I'm curious to know what sources you trust.

I never realized how cute Steve Inskeep was. I spend my mornings with him, and my evenings with Jon Stewart. Do you think my husband should be worried?

I think maybe it's Jon Stewart's wife who should be worried. I, for one, would squeal and swoon like an adolescent girl seeing a Jonas Brother if I ever ran into him. I don't know if Steve Inskeep is married, but I don't think there's any threat for spouses on either side of the microphone there. You're just having coffee with him, after all. Thanks for your comment!

That seems like a reasonable list. But, please, Jon Stewart? C'mon. His newscasts are superficial and have no balance.
Plus, I'm pretty sure his wife was convicted of insider stock trading. Birds of a feather and all that.
By the way, you forgot to mention Andy Rooney.
