Smarter Than He Looks
I asked my partner to give me a "handle" so I could tell tales on him here. "Rufus," he said off the cuff. Fine. But I think a guy named Rufus needs always to be addressed formally. So I asked Mr. Rufus to give me a middle initial and last name. He's still thinking about it. Meantime, I have his permission to introduce him with a recent favorite story.
Mr. Rufus J. So-and-So and I took a little road trip to Palm Springs, and came across something on the way that delighted us more than anything on the tourist agenda: Big Morongo Canyon Road. We passed the sign and knew we had to go back. He tried on silly faces as I bobbed up and down trying to line up the perfect camera angle. It took some time and skill to find exactly the right perspective, but I think the final result is so worth the effort. We laughed like hyenas for hours after this, we were so pleased with our bad selves. Maybe you had to be there, but I submit that one has to be pretty sharp to stage something like this on the fly. This man is one of the most brilliant people I know. He's way smarter than he looks.

There's a street in Las Vegas called Windy Butte. I hope someday to get a shot of him standing in front of the "e" ... Thanks for your comment.

Perfect shot, perfect expression, perfect sign! And for what it's worth, love it just the way it is: Mr. Rufus J. So-and-So.
